Purpose of the Discussion Group

RUS-SARATOV-SCHILLING is a Germans from Russia genealogy electronic discussion group for people who are interested primarily in Germans from Russia genealogy and family research for Germans who lived in the original village of Schilling (Alt-Schilling), and the daughter colonies of Schilling, Neu Schilling I, Neu Schilling II, and Konstantinovka, and
Alexandertal (Neu-Schilling).

The RUS-SARATOV-SCHILLING mailing list is a self-moderated, open-subscription discussion group which provides a means of communication for persons interested in the history and genealogy of their German-Russian families from the Schilling villages.

Topics of discussion include family history, exchange of family research information, discussions about genealogy finding aids, news from the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR, Lincoln, Nebraska), and anything else that concerns Germans from Russia genealogy.

Rules on Content of Messages

The RUS-SARATOV-SCHILLING mailing list is provided by the RootsWeb. Messages sent to the mailing list must be in standard ASCII format. Any messages sent in HTML (web page) format or other non-standard message format or with attachments will be returned to the person sending the message as undeliverable, and will not be distributed to the mailing list. Subscribers are expected to use restraint when replying, avoiding unacceptable language, non-related information, and attacks on individuals. Do not post virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, items for sale etc. Subscribers not following these rules will be removed from the mailing list, as subscribers, and their E-Mail address will be placed on a E-mail address "banned" list.

Instructions for Subscribing

There are two ways to receive messages: Mail mode and Digest mode. If you subscribe in Mail mode, you will receive single messages from the mailing list. They will arrive in your E-Mail mailbox shortly after the messages are sent. In Digest mode, a number of messages are combined into a large message. These Digests are sent to you periodically during a day, either when the Digest reaches a certain size, or an amount of time (usually half a day) has passed.

1. To subscribe in Mail Mode, send an e-mail message to:

2. To subscribe in Digest Mode, send an e-mail message to:

include only one word: subscribe

3. To unsubscribe from Mail mode, send an e-mail message to:

4. To unsubscribe from Mail mode, send an e-mail message to:
